To Mule Or Not To Mule?

When everyone else across the country is breaking out their layers and fall boots, I’m still clinging to endless summer in Los Angeles. And while we still have the warm weather, I can’t stop thinking about my favorite summer shoe – the mule. But my relationship with mules has been a rocky one since 2015.

For the longest time I resisted the trend that seemed to be transported straight from a 1994 episode of Friends, and I believed they should stay in the past, just like the Rachel haircut. But it turns out mules were more than a passing fad, and made a huge comeback on par with high-waisted denim and the choker.

Over the past year, mules grew on me due to the improved design many brands are coming out with. These backless shoes can be very versatile and are my new wardrobe staple, some coming open toe, some with a slight heel and other mules keeping their standard clog appearance. But now, with Jeffrey Campbell, Gucci, and even Steve Madden coming out with fashion-forward mules, I have officially become obsessed.

How To Style Mules

One of my favorite aspects of mules is the fact that they are easy to put on so you don’t have to mess with flats and can diversify your shoe game throughout the week. They look great with shorts, jeans, dresses and skirts. Mules have become a comfortable, easy way to elevate your look without throwing on a heel – but some of my favorite mules do have a little bit of a heel to them.

The best part about mules is that they come in a variety of different price points and in so many different styles that no matter your taste, price range, or preference, there is the perfect mule out there waiting to be added to your collection. I, for one, cannot stop buying them, and after you finish this post, you won’t be able to resist either.

Three Mules That Won’t Break The Bank

1) Jeffrey Campbell - Jodeci Sweetheart Mule Pump - $124.95

Nothing dresses up an outfit like a heel, and this is the perfect one to elevate any outfit. Personally, I'd wear it with ripped boyfriend jeans and a white tee and call it a day.

Shine on! This metallic gold mule goes perfectly with a pair of jeans, and has the added benefit of a pointed toe that offers the illusion of a longer leg.

The difference is in the details. This find at Zara can take any look from drab to fab thanks to the pointed toe and beautiful beaded rings.
